A successful team BEATS with one heart!
We spent most of our free time as children playing games that kept us entertained and physically active. Everyday kids want to finish their homework and get out to play, meeting friends and sharing stories from their day. The importance of athletics in our lives changes as we age. We participate in sports mostly to be active and healthy while also preserving our physical well-being. Certain sports help in the improvement of concentration and focus, hence enhancing mental health. It also provides an opportunity to catch up with old friends.
Regardless of why, how, or what sports we participate in, they remain one of the finest ways to keep ourselves occupied constructively and to establish an effective network that may be of assistance both personally and professionally.
On a lighter note, many business transactions are known to be sealed while playing golf over the weekend. Aside from these advantages, participating in sports allows us to foster a strong sense of community. For example, regardless of the diversity that exists among human races, when we are on the field, we perceive only unity in that diversity. Sociocultural components that sharply divide us continue to fade gradually, resulting in a harmonic tie within the society. This attitude is enhanced by post-game festivities, where stories from the field are shared and great laughter is heard. Playing sports provides us the chance to understand that, despite the many things that separate us in this world, there will always be one thing that unites and preserves us all.
Unity is strength… when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.

In its quest to make the world a better place, TIWIW plays this week’s blog in the spirit of sportsmanship, recognizing how sports result in humankind standing unified!
1. Sports as Emotional attachment
When watching a sporting event, each person in the stadium or outside goes through an emotional journey of reminiscing memories of their favorite team or favorite player, in addition to the players. Every person watching the game has one and only one goal: to see his or her team win and celebrate together. There are foods and drinks associated with the type of game being played. There is a unique anthem, as well as signature sportswear and other accessories. A massive crowd in the stadium singing and cheering, jumping and hugging one another is truly a sight to behold! Being emotionally involved in a sport in this way fosters a sense of unity.
2. Sports as an Economy
The sports industry is one of the largest in the world, with an estimated value of 500-550 billion dollars in the United States alone. Sports contribute significantly to job creation globally across the value chain, including players, coaches, athletes, personal trainers, sports science specialists/sports physicians, sports management, equipment suppliers, referees, umpires, and many others.
Sports-streaming rights have become important revenue generators, including earnings from advertisements, as their popularity has grown and technology has advanced. Many notable journalists, writers, anchors, and commentators have come from this. Sports are becoming more entertaining, resulting in more wealth.
Another important contributor in many countries is sports tourism. A few countries host major sporting events in order to attract tourists. People from various cultures gather to celebrate, learn, and exchange their values, thereby creating a world in which everyone feels equal and welcome.
3. Sports as a form of Entertainment
Following the birth of the WWF/WWE in the 1980s, the term “sports entertainment” was coined. Sports are displayed with a high level of theatrical flourish and all-around display. However, the concept of ‘sports as entertainment’ is evolving, with friendly matches being held in a variety of sports. These games can be planned separately or as part of a larger sporting event. Such games are played solely for the purpose of entertaining viewers and popularizing a specific sport.
4. Sports as an Encouragement
Leading players from a county, a city, a state or a nation – all become inspiring models for youngsters. They serve as role models, inspiring the next generation to work hard to achieve their goals, to stay committed, to be empathetic, and to be a better version of themselves. Fan clubs for such Heroes bring people together, strengthening the sense of community.
5. Sports as a way to be Empathetic
Sports can make a huge difference at a human level. Events are held to generate funds towards a noble cause, to honor victims of a disaster or war, pay respect to volunteers, raise awareness towards specific illnesses such as cancer or Alzheimer’s and provide funds towards cancer patients and many worthier initiatives.
In conclusion, sports, in addition to being a fun physical activity, have a unique way of making a difference in the world. Sports affect everyone, from players to spectators, children to adults, communities to nations, victims to survivors, patients to national heroes – everyone.
Get involved, whether you’re on a team or watching from the sidelines with others: it will benefit both you and your community. Sports friendships are stronger and more meaningful than many others.
TIWIW invites all its members to play with a spirit of fun, empathy, pride and unity!
Play on, healthily!
