Overall Wellness for a human being, animal, bird, and nature or even for a machine refers to the process of maintaining quality ratio of inner health to outer performance. On any given day if this ratio yields result numerical one, then you have achieved perfect “Health and Wellness (body and Being)”.
Human beings are made up of two important components outer body (physical appearance) and inner mind and soul (the master controller). For a human being, the body, mind and soul need to be in sync to achieve the perfect wellness score. These are interconnected and if one goes out of sync the entire system collapses.
On this Wednesday, TIWIW brings to you an easy secret recipe to achieve “Overall Wellness” through “ETA Engineering” – Eating habits, Thoughts, Activities – that hold good for body, mind and soul.
1. Eating Habits
Eating habits are nothing but the input fuel given to the body and mind. We know that a balanced and nutritious food makes our body function well. The foods that contain antioxidants, vitamins and minerals not only nourish body, also nurture the mind. When body is at ease, the brain would be calm.
Some of the foods like oily ones have direct impact on the brain cells. Many researches have shown that low quality food that are often processed and refined are not at all optimal to achieve Overall Wellness. High blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, obesity are some of the common problems faced due to not following the right eating ritual. Since activities of body and mind are interlinked, when any one is affected, the other one is tend to go off mood.
2. Thoughts
Though it appears to be related to mind and soul, thought affects our body too. When we think positively on any aspect of our life, it imparts an invisible boost to the body. On the contrary, our body language changes with every negative thought or decision that mind takes.
A troubled mind can never be at ease. Hence it is paramount to practice and train our mind to be under control and soul to be calm. This in turn is reflected in the form of right actions being taken by us that are seen externally. Yoga, meditation, aromatherapy, positive thinking practices are a few of effective ways to condition the influx of right thoughts in our mind.
3. Activities
Any form of light exercise done regularly has a positive impact on our body and mind. It helps to relax, de-stress and improves blood circulation making us energized. Brisk walks, gym, aerobics, playing games, yoga, stretching exercises are valuable stress busters.
Likewise, a daily exercise to the mind in the form of puzzles, sudoku, learning a new skill, recipe etc. calms our mind and keeps the brain cells active. A quiet meditation practice, inner reflections, engaging in charity, voluntary social work, conscious gifting, taking care of nature – all these help to clean the soul. Be it physical, mental or soulful activities, these have a direct impact on our body and mind.

Remember Overall Wellness is not a one-time job. It needs to be a continuous process of our outer and inner balance to be in the state of ‘well-being’.
