Listen to what Mother Earth has to say.
“My beloved children, I have not given you my womb to fertilize, but a basket of my protective nature to dwell in,” she says. I never fed you through umbilical chord, but I made every effort to ensure that you never went hungry. My touch never healed you, but I am the pharmacy where you can get free medicines. I never prepared refreshments for you, but I did arrange for enough water bodies to quench your thirst. I can’t stop you from aging, but i gave fresh air to breathe even at your fag end of the age. I make disasters that affect you, but I am determined to balance things out so that my children can move on. But how long can I ignore your mistakes? How much longer must I suffer as a result of you? I adore you, but that doesn’t mean I’ll ever stop caring about future generations or loving my children of other species who are victims of Mankind’s actions.”
Close our eyes and consider what Mother Earth has to say. We’d all probably get the same answer: Let’s act quickly to protect our planet.
Let us permit nature to have her way. She understands her business better than we do.”
-Michel de Montaigne
5 ways to Act to Protect Our Planet
The time has come to take a focused small step in the right direction. The idea is that every human being should be influenced to protect the planet and held accountable for their actions. Every society or community must address the gravity of the situation that lies ahead of us. The root cause for pollution of air, water and surrounding environment is our actions and behaviors. Today, it is not just the responsibility of corporations or governments to take actions to improve climatic condition; it is also the ultimate responsibility of each individual to undertake small efforts that have a huge impact on safeguarding our blue planet.
1. Go Waste Free
This is a conscientious decision and a critical first step toward success. Everything you trash out, tie up, and take out to be collected will end up in a landfill. Furthermore, all of that rubbish – plastic, paper, metal, and so on – was most likely produced using unsustainable ways that harm the health of the earth’s land. We become more environmentally friendly by deciding to eliminate trash. Waste is something that both our surroundings and us do not want. It is not only vital to consume in the appropriate quantity, but it is also critical to purchase the suitable product from the appropriate producer who is concerned with minimizing waste or implementing waste-free approaches. We cannot completely eliminate waste, but we can surely minimize it. “Reuse and recycle” should be our mantra when it comes to solid waste, and “disposing” of what remains in the proper manner is the key to becoming waste free. Apart from plastic and paper, food is the next largest source of waste. Unlike the former, the latter can be composted and utilized to grow our own food.
2. Conserve Water
Intellectuals claim that investing in water now would yield higher returns than gold bonds in a few years. Some even believe that future conflicts will be fought over water. It may appear to be a joke, but the level of concern shown in these remarks is alarming. The issue is massive, and the cause is equally enormous. Although water surrounds 3/4 of the globe, the ground water level is rapidly declining. This is because most rainwater is not gathered, and water waste is not stopped. According to statistics, we can save up to 200 gallons of precious water every day by repairing a leaky faucet.
3. Stress on Energy Efficiency
“Energy” is the next major concern for humanity. Energy is required for all activities on the planet. The need for automation in our daily activities, as well as energy supply, is high. Though the world is shifting to renewable energy, it will take some time for it to reach every corner of the planet. For the time being, it is critical that we embrace energy-efficient products and methods. Choosing the correct grade of product from the proper manufacturer is critical. Products that produce 100% or 98% of their input fall under the category of energy efficient. We must seek out or use products with 4 or 5 stars. Such products reduce energy waste. Switching off electrical products when they are not in use is another approach to save energy and prevent energy waste. Industries, governments, and businesses are all working hard to save energy and boost efficiency. However, the first step begins at home.
4. Go Digital
Going digital directly helps us in reducing environmental waste, lowering our carbon footprint, reducing CO2 emissions and preventing deforestation. For every 1 ton of paper produced, over 1.5 tons of Carbon Dioxide is released into the atmosphere. Simply taking a digital initiative by saving your files onto a computer or online instead of on paper goes a long way in protecting the Earth. Online Banking, digital currencies, subscribing e books, e newspapers and magazines is a effective way forward to save our planet.
5. Spread the Word
Every household member must understand his or her role in saving the environment. Is it not holistic approach to take pledge along with saying prayer on the dinner table? Why not elders in the family share environmental tips to children on weekly or fortnightly basis. Every housing society needs to have a discussion on the improvements needed to be done on resolving issues in their every meeting. Societies and communities need to drive the awareness campaign often among members as well as other societies and communities.
If we follow science’s lead, we have the potential to save nearly all habitat types around the globe. With our very future on the line, it’s time for all of us to redouble our efforts to protect the planet. Educating ourselves and sharing ideas is a great first step. That’s a big victory for wildlife, birds, plants, insects, and the diversity of life that makes our natural world so special.
The TIWIW community believes that loving the environment is similar to caring for and respecting one’s loved ones. As a conscious lifestyle platform, it aims to promote sustainable products and encourages its users to be mindful consumers as well.
Let us take action to conserve our planet for the sake of ourselves and future generations.
